CMCC #73 - Playful

Hello friends!

Today's post is for the new challenge starting at Colour Me today.

I'm not gonna lie... these colors scared me when I first saw them. I couldn't imagine how I was going to make them all work together. After I figured out that I had all of the ink colors I decided that a water color look was the best way to go.

I started out stamping the circles from the Bokeh Dots stamp set in the Essentials by Ellen line in Versamark ink. I then heat embossed them with white embossing powder. I love the transformation when the powder is heated. It's like magic!

I then used my ink pads in Pumpkin Pie, Rich Razzleberry, and Lost Lagoon to make a water color background. I smashed each of the pads on to my craft mat and added some water to it. Adding water to the water color paper first will help get the ink on the paper moving to blend the colors together. I love the way all three of the colors blended together and looked so pretty.

I cut the water color piece to slightly smaller than the card base, rounded the top right corner and positioned it in the right corner. I heat embossed the sentiment from the Essential by Ellen set called Mondo Magnolia with white embossing powder and adhered it to the card. I sprinkled some 6mm and 8mm sparkling clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh around the card.

Thanks for stopping by today to check out my card. The products used are listed and linked below. Leave me a comment if you have any questions or just want to let me know you stopped by.

Happy Stampin!

WPlus9 Challenge - Get Sketchy with Joni #1

Hello!

Today's post is late but it's finally up! I decided to play along with the new challenge at WPlus9 which you can find here. The challenge is to use this sketch.

Such a cute sketch and it made me think of a shaker card instantly! I went straight to my WPlus9 stamps and dies to figure out what to make and this is what I created!

The card base is cut to a standard 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 top folding card using White card stock from WPlus9. Next I grabbed some Nautical Navy card stock also from WPlus9 and cut it to fit the front of the card.

I die cut a piece of water color paper using a frame from the Sunshine Layers set from WPlus9 and then used Faded Jeans distress ink to create a water color background. I love how that turned out. It gives it the look of a fabric which makes for great dimension!

My tag is die cut using the Stitched Duo 3 die from Pretty Pink Posh and some Sweet Gelato card stock from WPlus9. That pink color is simply scrumptious! I also used the die to cut a window sheet and a piece of white fun foam to create my shaker tag. I added some Large Silver Star sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to the window and just love the sparkle it gives.

I adhered the water color piece to the navy card stock using fun foam for even more dimension. Once my tag was adhered I die cut the hello word die from WPlus9 using white card stock. Next I heat embossed the sentiment from the Lucky Stars stamp set by WPlus9 using white embossing powder. I love all of the texture this one has going on!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you were inspired by my card. There is a lot of inspiration at the WPlus9 blog if you're interested in playing along as well. Entries have to be in May 29 and winner is announced on May 30.
