Welcome back and happy Monday! For some people it's back to reality after being off for Christmas break. Thankfully my oldest doesn't have to go back until tomorrow so we can savor one more day!
Today I am honored to be a Guest Designer at of one of my favorite challenges called The Challenge. It is run by an amazingly talented woman, Lesley Crogan. She is a wonder woman in the crafting world, in my opinion! Her talent is never ceases to amaze me!
The challenge is either a color, sketch or you can give a try at both.
I love the colors and sketch so it made working on this card that much more fun. It always takes me some time to figure out what stamps and theme I want to go with on a card. I am in the mood to move on to the next holiday so this card is a love theme.
I have to say that this card just makes me giggle. I love this deer head die by Ellen Hutson! The sentiment is a made up one but I think there should be one permanently in their collection (hint, hint). It just fits perfectly.
The base of the card is Whisper White card stock from Stampin Up. Next is Early Espresso with a background stamp from Hero Arts stamped in Versamark Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder to give it a soft tone on tone look. The small strip of green is Old Olive and the red is Real Red. I cut both of the rectangles using the Lawn Fawn Large Stitched Rectangle dies with my Big Shot machine. I just love the stitched outline that they give.
I die cut the dear head silhouette and hearts also using my Big Shot. The sentiment is pieced together using words from a Winnie & Walter stamp set called The Big, Bold & Happy. There was a good bit of masking to achieve this sentiment but it was so worth it in the end. It was stamped using Real Red ink from Stampin Up and Truffle ink from Avery Elle. I adhered all of the pieces to somewhat follow the sketch totally forgetting the half circle at the bottom but I didn't realize it until it was too late. I threw some glossy accents on the bigger heart and spread some green sequins around the card.
I am very happy with how it turned out and I hope it has inspired you as well. Hope you will head over and check out The Challenge blog page and see what else the Design Team has created to inspire you as well. There are a few rules to remember when playing along.
Thank you for taking the time to stop by today. As always, the products used will be listed and linked below. Have a great day and see you back here tomorrow with another fun Valentines Day project.
