Joyful Holiday Blessings

Hi friends. Thanks for popping in today!

I am sharing a quick card I made today for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge that ends tomorrow. I have been playing with the Simon Says Stamp December card kit and I love it!

I created my own background using one of the stamps in the stamp set from the card kit. I heat embossed it using clear embossing ink to give it a tone on tone look. It really makes the back pop!

I then adhered a piece of silver metallic paper that also comes in the kit to the middle of the card and cut a piece of vellum slightly smaller. Before adhering the vellum I placed some white sewing thread between the two pieces for some added texture.

I then stamped the sentiment from a Winnie & Walter set called The Big, The Bold and The Blessings and heat embossed it with white and liquid platinum embossing powder. The liquid platinum also comes in the card kit and is such an amazing color! It's now one of my favorite powders to use!

I adhered all of the pieces to the card and then scattered some of the sequins also included in the kit around the card. I had a hard time getting the left side of the vellum to stay down since I didn't have anything to help glue it down. I went with a white piece of bakers twine and tied a bow at the top. I rounded the top right of card with my We R Memory Keepers corner rounder and call it a day!

I love the navy, silver and and white together. I don't use vellum enough and this makes me want to!

There is only a day left to join in on the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Head on over to the blog and check it out and join if you can. It's a really fun challenge and talented design team members.

With Gratitude

Hello. Hope you are having a great weekend wherever you are this evening. Tonight is our last night at the cabin in the mountains and it's safe to say we are all a little sad. It's back to reality and that is not fun. I know that my oldest and I will be counting down the days until Christmas vacation.

We watched football all day long. My team lost but my husband and teenagers team are still fighting for a win. My craft table was planted right in front of the television so I could watch and create. I didn't get as much done as I wanted but anything is better than nothing.

I just love my new stamps from Winnie & Walter so I pulled them out to make a card. I guess because I am sad about vacation ending my card ended up with dark colors instead of my usual cheery colors.

I wanted to challenge myself and do a one layer card. Technically I had two layers but who's counting, right? I pulled out my distress inks and added some water for a water color look. I always love to see the color spread across the paper and blend with the other colors. Its just like magic.

I mixed together three different distress inks to achieve the look above. Then I stamped the tree from the set A Tree for All Seasons using Versafine Onyx black ink. I also stamped the crow from the same set to give the tree some character. I also stamped the sentiment in the same black ink. I adhered some different sized enamel dots in black and colored the tree with my Wink of Stella glitter pen. I rounded the bottom corners with my We R Memory Keepers corner rounder on the 1/2 mark.

I showed my card to the hubby and he said that it looked more like a sympathy card with the crows. I guess he is right but I also think the gratitude sentiment works well with this too. It's clean, simple and I know exactly who will be receiving this card.

Hope this card inspires you to make a card that you aren't use to making. Use a different color palette, make a one layer card or just think outside the box. It makes challenging yourself so much fun. If you like this, please leave a comment. I do enjoy reading all of them.

Christmas Blessings

Hi crafty friends!

It's late. Like really late and really past my bed time BUT I will always stay up late to create. I just recently found a love for a company that is new to me. Winnie & Walter. Their products are AH-MAZING! I love that instead of die cuts they give you digital files that I can use with my Cameo. Just genius, I say!

Anyway, I took the plunge this past weekend and placed an order for a few stamp sets and stencils aka creative screenings in their world. I stalked the mailman today. No, really I did. Ask my son and he will tell you it's true. The thing about my mailman is he knows I have a problem with happy mail. He doesn't mind though. I make him cute things with goodies and gift cards. It's a win/win situation.

Okay back to my post. I found that Winnie and Walter have a fun challenge blog and it just so happens that their current one ends tonight. Yes, tonight! That's why I am up so late so I can participate. They have an amazing opportunity for the person THEY pick to win this challenge! It's all worth it.

Here's the 411 on the challenge.

I honestly couldn't figure out which I liked more the photo or the color palette so I just did a little of both. I went more with the photo that has the deer in it. They are so popular right now and I just love those guys! So here is my take on the challenge.

I have a disclaimer and here it is. I found out about this challenge a little over 2 hours ago. It was about ten o'clock at night. The lighting I knew from the get go was going to be a problem. I'm at a cabin in the mountains where finding light that was good was a major problem. I turned out every light I could find, turned off lights and then just took a deep breath and went with the 2 best I could edit. For all that was stacked up against me, I would have to say they turned out pretty good.

I am in love with that creative screening stencil! It will be my new favorite and the one I grab for a lot! Embossing paste is so much fun to create with and can be used to dress up any card. The paper behind the front panel is actually a Silver Matte card stock by Bazzill. It is so shiny and pretty but yet my lighting problem wouldn't work with me no matter how much I yelled at it. Hee Hee!

Please check out Winnie & Walter products here and the challenge info can be found here. You won't be disappointed although you may become addicted. I've been called an enabler before and I fully embrace it.

All products used will be listed and linked below. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you think of my card. I love reading all of your comments and look forward to them.

Until next time,

Angel
