Sunday Stamps #84 - Keep Swimming

Welcome! It's time for a new challenge over at the Sunday Stamps Challenge Blog. This time we are using a sketch to challenge you.

I do love making tags. They are so easy to create and can be used for just about anything you want. I knew before I started making the tags that I wanted to make my own background. I didn't just want to use patterned paper or plain card stock.

First I had to figure out what stamp set I wanted to use so I could decide on the background. I decided to go with a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called Best Fishes. It's from a release a few months back and is just so cute. I went with a stamp that looks like water/waves and grabbed watercolor paper.

I stamped the image with Salty Ocean distress ink. I went over the image with a brush using water to soften it up and give it the effect of water. I really loved how it turned out. Next was time for the tags.

I went with a tag from My Creative Time that I reach for all of the time. It is the perfect size! I cut out two tags using my Big Shot. I wanted them to overlap one another. As you can see in the picture above I have a diamond shape in the middle of the tag. It gives the tags some character once I pieced it back together with the tags. Next I took two of the fish from the Best Fishes stamp set and embossed them with white embossing powder. It made the fish pop off the black paper and looked crisp.

As you can see in the finished card, I embossed the greeting in the same white embossing powder to allow it to pop off the tags as well. I used some red twine from Pretty Pink Posh to tie around the tags. My last few elements to finish off the card are sequins also from Pretty Pink Posh and some very cute googly eyes to help the fish see where they are going while swimming. Silly, I know.

Before I go I just have to share this picture. It's kinda like a blooper.

My four year old loves to hang out with me in my craft room. I'm surprised I get as much as I do with him in there. When I take pictures of my cards he thinks it is so funny to try and "photobomb" them and then just laughs uncontrollably. It's quite humorous so I thought I would share it with you all.
