Hello and welcome to my blog!
Today I am sharing a Fall decor project that I plan on using to decorate my mantle. Fall is my absolute favorite season. Well, maybe not as much as Christmas but it runs a pretty close race. I love the colors the most. All the browns, reds, greens and yellows just make me smile.
A few weeks back I ran across a frame sale at Michaels. They were just simple natural wood color frames but I had a few ideas for them and since they were a good price I picked up three. I knew I could do something with them to use as decorations for one of the upcoming holidays.
On Friday, I picked up a new product line from Carta Bella at my local scrapbook store, EMI Scrapbooking. She has all the newest companies and I just had to have this one in my collection. It is called A Perfect Autumn and it has beautiful colors and designs.
I was able to get in some crafting time today so I decided to pull out those frames and get to decorating. I found the paper I wanted to use first and then decided what I want to make from there. I love subway art. I went straight to Pinterest and was just going to find an idea from there, print it and make it a simple project. I will tell you that did not happen. The simple part that is.
The idea to just use a few words that described Fall was what I decided to do. I have a whole bunch of felt that I bought a few years ago when I was making wreaths and using felt to make flowers. I knew I had Fall colors that matched the paper I wanted to use.
Next, I used a die cut alphabet font from Lawn Fawn called Quinn's ABC's that were just the perfect size to use! It all came together perfectly. Along with the alphabets I used a die cut set from Stampin Up called Autumn Accents that has the perfect leaves and acorn!
Once I cut everything out and placed them on my paper they got lost due to the lines and bold colors of the paper. I grabbed a piece of vellum that muted the colors and helped the letter pop right off the page. I glued all of the pieces down with liquid glue using a very light coat.
I placed it in my frame and honestly smiled REALLY BIG! I just love it. I will definitely be making one for Halloween and Christmas. They will be a wonderful addition to my holiday decorations!
Here is the finished project. It is going to be so cute on my mantle one I get the rest of my decorations up. Hopefully that will be tomorrow. It's time to get all the plastic containers out which I think my husband secretly cringes when he hears me ask for help.
Hope this inspires you to get your Fall decorations out and find something new to make to add to your collection. The projects you can make are limitless! As usual, all items used will be linked below.
All felt, vellum and frame was purchased from my local Michaels store.
