I have been absent for a few days here on the blog. This past weekend was very busy! Lots to do before school starts on Thursday. A few of us moms decided to take our older kids to Six Flags on Sunday for some last summer fun. I haven't been in about 20 years and my back was feeling it after riding the Scream Machine. I don't remember it being that rough or having that many ups and downs.
Here's a cute picture of the kids as we were leaving the park. I guess you never out grow cartoons!
I can't believe how quickly they have all made it thru middle school! They are top this year as 8th graders! I pray that they all have a wonderful year and make fun memories together!
We are having a lazy day here in the Johns household. Caleb has a sore calf and my back is sore as well. I am working on laundry but while they are washing and drying I have been playing in my craft room.
I got frustrated with my Copic coloring the other day and decided to just walk away for a few days to regroup and I'm so glad I did. I went back to the same stamp set and tried again. This time was much better and I was so pleased with outcome!
I used a stamp and die set from My Favorite Things that I specifically bought to practice coloring. There is a lot of detail so it takes some time but it's so worth it when it's all over and done.
Isn't she just absolutely adorable? I love the color combo that I went with and how it all ties well together. Using a white gel pen to add white dots to her shirt and hat gives even more detail! I added a clear Wink of Stella glitter pen to butterfly and sun rays. I also die cut the word "you" multiple times and adhered them one on top of each other. On the top one, I used clear embossing powder to give it a shiny look. Unfortunately, you can't really see that detail from the picture but I promise it's there. The button was a last minute decision so I could enter the card in to The Paper Players challenge that is going on right now!
I tried to incorporate more than one button but just couldn't find a spot for another one. It worked really well inside the sun. The texture of the button brings the sun to life to make it look shiny.
I keep scrolling back up to look at the card and critique my coloring. Is her face too dark? Are their lines in her shirt? Does her face match her legs? I could sit and stare at it all day and find a reason to not like it but I have to stop. It's better than it was 4 days ago. Find the silver lining...
Here is a closer look of the girl and a different view of the card.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my card today. Please leave me a comment to let me know what you think and give any advice that you may have. I appreciate them all!
Have a great day and happy stampin!
