I made another card for a challenge I have played along with in a long time. The color combo is one of my favorites!
The color Midnight Muse was unfortunately retired last month so I used Night of Navy which still worked perfectly. I decided to use some new products that I bought last month but hadn't opened yet. One I was a little afraid of using but decided to take the plunge. and I am so glad I did.
I watch videos. A lot. I can't get enough of them. So in the videos I watch they all use embossing paste. I love the raised look it gives and I get to use stencils as well which just gives a whole new meaning to the word FUN. I pulled it out, opened it up and realized it didn't look as scary as I thought it would. Actually it just looked like white icing. Who is afraid of white icing? Certainly not me.
I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do so instead of over thinking it I just went for it. I pulled out my Simon Says Stamp Stars & Dots stencil and went to work. Heres a few snapshots....
I taped my paper down and then I taped the stencil down because that is what all the girls in the videos tell you to do. They know best... It went on just like butta and didn't take but a minute or so to scrape it all on. You really only need just. a. little.
The real fun part is taking the stencil off and looking at the magic that you created. Just giddy!
I wanted to use the a new stamp set from Lawn Fawn called Life Is Good. It has the cutest beach theme you will ever want in a set. I knew that I wanted to use the light house as my focal point. I stamped it out in Night of Navy ink and colored in some of it with Real Red marker. Once my paste was dry I cut it down and put it aside. I added 2 red strips to each side and punched them using the Notebook Punch from EK Success. I was going to use a scalloped border punch but I always seem to reach for that one so I decided to do something different this time.
I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White card stock using Real Red ink and cut the ends in to banners. I used foam dots from SU to pop both the lighthouse and the sentiment to give it some added dimension. I knew that I wanted some type of light coming from the lighthouse. I really tried hard not to over think this card. That is when I start to get frustrated. I just took a few pieces of white and trimmed them in to very small strips and glued them coming out of the light house. I think it turned out really cute and hopefully you will think it looks like light beaming! I used my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen added it to the beams of light and then colored over the lighthouse as well.
I hope you have enjoyed this card today and will head on over Pals Paper Arts and check out their challenge and what the design team has created for you.
