I ended up having to just walk away from my final card for about an hour and come back to it with a different perspective. I think that is best to do when you are frustrated. It helped in this instance for sure.
I took an old Sizzix star background and cut out different sizes in the Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry colors. I then taped together some silver glitter ribbon to die cut out some more stars. I used a border punch from SU to punch out the side pieces. I drew the lines for the ornaments with a black pen and added bows to each of them. I found an old stamp set from SU for my greeting and after stepping back from it I actually smiled about it. No, it's not traditional but I think that's what makes a good challenge. I ended up adding dots with my white gel pen to finish it off.
I hope that this inspires you to think outside the box and pull out those nontraditional colors!
