You're Special

Today I made a card for a special woman that has been part of my life for a very long time. I spent many a nights at her house while in middle/high school and even times as an adult for old times sake. She's been sick for quite some time now and I thought that a cheery card would make her smile.

I used a retired paper pack called Print Poetry. I love all of the colors and how they all look so good together. The stamp sentiment and embossing powder is not from Stampin' Up but it's in my stash and needs to get used.

Recipe for this card:

Designer Series Paper- Print Poetry (retired)
Cardstock- Midnight Muse, Summer Starfruit, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla
Stamps- Sentiment Sampler by Paper Smooches
Embossing Powder- Blue by ZING
Punches- Itty Bitty flower punch
Ivory Ribbon
Basic Jewel Rhinestones
Card is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2

Real Red Goodie Simply Created Kit

I love treats. I love treats in cute goodie bags. I especially love making cute homemade goodie bags.

Thankfully Stampin' Up! has made that easy to do with our Simply Created Kits. This is our Christmas version that is just so cute!

This can be found in our Holiday Catalog (132161). It comes with everything shown above minus the candy (hee hee).

I wanted to make one of them to see how easy it was. I was halfway through the process when I realized I didn't have any fun Christmas candy. I happened to look up and saw a bag of colorful Goldfish crackers that were left over from my Noah's snack. I grabbed a handful and put them in the bag. It didn't look very Christmasy <---- yes, I made up a word but it just fits.

I can just see handing these out in Noah's class at his Christmas party! I know the kids may not appreciate the cuteness but when you can make 10 for only $4.95 it just seems okay.

The sentiment is from our stamp set called Oh, Goodie (131889) which can also be found in our Holiday Catalog. I don't hear the phrase Num, Num a whole lot but it just sounds like something cute a toddler would say.

I had a fun time making this and can't wait to find more fun treats and fill the bags.

Convention Make & Take #3

Today I am showing you a quick and easy project that takes only minutes to make but so unbelievably cute! Now when I say it takes minutes I mean to actually put together once you've figured out what you want to put on it. If you are anything like me the planning process can take hours or days! I have to find the right stamp set, the right color and the right ribbon to make a project just right. It is a pain but it's what makes me happy.

These are our new Mini Muslin Gift Bags (132180).

You get 8 of these cuties with an order. They are stampable, 100% cotton with a draw string closure. They are the perfect treat bags for any occasion. Just find the perfect stamp set, color and ribbon! Sounds so easy, right? This is another one of our Convention Make and Takes. It was shown with our Thankful stamp (133313) and our Magnificent Maple stamp (131868) here.

I do not own either of these stamps yet. SHOCKER! But I do plan to add them to my stash as soon as possible. I used another stamp set that is one of my favorites during the Fall season. It is called Wonderfall (128087) and there are so many fun things to create with this one! Here is what I came up with.

I just love it. I can't wait to put treats in them for Thanksgiving for family and friends. They can be used for birthdays, Christmas, and anything else you can think of. Let your imagination go wild!

Convention Make & Take #2

Today I'm going to show you another project that I made using one of our Make & Takes given to us while at Convention. This one is so cute and fun to make. There is tons of different ways you can decorate and use this so it's very versatile!

This is how the kit comes to us. It has all the necessary products minus the stamp sets, adhesive, etc. When I first looked at the directions I remember saying WHAT out loud to myself. It just didn't click as quickly as it should have. Sometimes I can be a little directionally challenged and I admit it.

The bag comes flat and the directions show you have to make it a standing bag. These bags can be found in our Idea Book & Catalog under Tag A Bag Gift Bags (#131370). There is also an accessory kit that you can purchase separately to accessorize your bag. It is also found in the ID&C under Tag A Bag Accessory Kit (#130153).

These pictures are not the best and I apologize for that. I've got to find a better place to take pictures that gives natural light. Anyways, I just love the little itty bitty clothes pins. They are so adorable and don't take up much space or weigh too much! The baker's twine is so cute as well. You can definitely tell which one I used as it's not all nice and neat and cute. Nothing ever goes back the way you unraveled it from. Hee Hee.

Here is what my finished project looks like.

I love how it turned out. All of the colors look great together and it's just big enough to put a small treat in it to give someone special. Hope you enjoyed looking at my project for today. Please let me know if you have any questions or would like a catalog.

Goodbye Summer

My baby. My first born. My oldest boy. He started his 2nd year in middle school last Thursday. Today starts his first official week of 7th grade. I still can't believe it. Just seems like yesterday I was sobbing at the front of his Pre-K school. My how time flies.

Open House this year was a lot less different as well. Things felt easier. We weren't the low man on the totem pole. We knew where we were going and didn't need to ask someone a question every where we turned. Caleb had friends that he was so excited to see. Caleb had a girlfriend that he was frantically searching for to see if they had classes together. Yes, I am at the point where I have to realize that he likes girls and they like him back. Eek! When did that happen?

Caleb and his best friend, Cameron were bummed that they didn't have any classes together this year. His mom and I were thinking it was probably a blessing in disguise but we didn't tell them that. I took this picture because they looked like brothers and I think they secretly look happy to be inside the school. Shhh... don't tell them I said that. They may never smile again.

School shopping was relatively easy this year. He made it clear that he wanted athletic clothes. I guess the day will come when he wants to wear nice shirts and shorts to school like his Mom wants him to do. Okay, I laughed as I was typing that just as you were probably laughing when you read it. Boys doing what their Moms want them to do. HILARIOUS. I was able to get him in to a collared shirt and nice shorts for the first day but ONLY because it was his favorite athletic brand and because it was his idea.

Remember that part about me sobbing when he walked in to Pre-K? It doesn't get any easier as they get older. Actually I think it gets harder but in a different way. Watching our kids get independent is a proud moment but so hard. It's bitter sweet to say the least. He threw a wrench in to my plan when he asked if I'd just drop him off in car line and that he didn't need me to walk him in. WAIT! WHAT? He didn't want me to walk him in, take a picture of him in front of his locker, give him a hug/kiss, and then wave goodbye while blowing kisses as he walked in to his classroom. I was shocked sad. It couldn't be time for that, could it? The "it's no longer cool for your Mom to walk you to class" was upon me and I didn't even see it coming. I kept my composure as he got out of the car and said Bye, Mom and walked away. I did snap this picture as he got out of the car to document the moment I'd probably remember forever.

That was that. Bye, Mom. He turned around and walked in to 7th grade. I drove off in tears. At least he thought his Mom was calm. Usually I hear... MOM, why are you crying again? Face it son... your Mom is a crier. I get it honest and I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

His first day was a success. He said it was awesome. That in itself is awesome. I love hearing positivity.

To celebrate school being back in session some of us super, cool, awesome moms decided to take all of  our middle schoolers to breakfast before school. They loved every minute of it and it was so nice to have kids their age behave. We were even complimented when we were walking out.

Here they are with all their sweet smiles. I hope when they are Seniors in high school we can still say they are friends. They probably won't allow us to take pictures of them like this. Maybe because they will all have cars of their own and won't need us to chauffeur them in longer. Sniff, Sniff

Caleb and his girlfriend, Meghan. She is a sweet girl who comes from a good family. I'm thankful he has a friend that just happens to be a girl that he can talk to, laugh with and enjoying hanging out with on occasions.

The first two days of 7th grade were a success. I hope and pray that the rest of the year is just as good. I also pray that I have hair and that it isn't anymore grey than it already is by the end. One can hope....

Convention Make & Take #1

I love when our new catalog comes out. It's exciting to see all of the new ideas and products. Even though it's been out for a few months I still find myself finding something new every time I look through it. There is always those that I love and ones that I think I'll never ever never use. I was proven wrong while on Convention.

One stamp set in particular called Gorgeous Grunge:

I never imagined that I would use it much less find a way to use it and like it. After seeing many projects using this stamp set I have fallen in love with it. There are so many uses for it that I would have never thought of!

While at Convention, we are given Make & Takes in our bag that we get every year. It contains all different kinds of projects to make with the stamp sets we are given for free. I am so glad that this was one of the free sets because I don't think that I would have ever bought it. Once I got home and settled in my craft room which was a few weeks later I pulled out all of these projects. I never made the ones from last year so I was determined to do them all in one sitting.

Here is the card and envelope that I made.

Awesome, right? I know! The other stamp set that was used is Hello, Lovely which is another one I would have probably never bought but it was also a free set. Thank you, Stampin' Up!

I now find myself grabbing this set whenever I can because it has so many different uses! Never underestimate little splatters and streak lines. You never know what beautiful card you could make.

Let me know if you have any questions or would like a catalog. You can also visit my website at

Boooo

Halloween is around the corner. I do love that holiday. It's not only about candy (which I love even more than the holiday itself), costumes, and fun decorations. My oldest son was born on this very fun day. This year is a very big year for him as he turns 13! That's right I will have a teenager in my house. EEK!!

I have neglected my blog.... again. Today I made myself get in my craft room, make something fun, and now I'm blogging about it. Seems easy enough, right? Getting back from Convention is always like a high. You are pumped up about the new stuff, getting sales and finding new customers. Last year was the same thing and it died off very quickly. This year I'm not letting it happen!! I'm going to find you and you will be my new customer. Hee, hee

Here is the fun card that I came up with in a matter of an hour. Now any of you that know me knows that only an hour to think up a card is very good for me.

Looking at this just makes me happy. I don't know if it's the cute washi tape or the fact that those little ghosts are punched from the owl punch. Seriously, that punch makes me giddy. I'm amazed at all the fun projects one can make from that punch. I'm not quite sure what I'll do with this card now that I've made it. Maybe I'll just put it up on my shelf and remind myself to smile everyday.
