'ABC' Challenge

Today is another challenge that I wanted to quickly share. I was able to spend time with my family, watch football and be crafty all day yesterday. It was very close to the perfect day.

The challenge for today is 'ABC' challenge which stands for All Beautiful Cards. This is the qualifications for this week.

Here is the card that I came up with using the squares of Halloween, Stampin Up! image and ribbon.

I haven't used this little spider or flocking in sooooo long! I happened to be searching for something else in my craft room and actually found this instead. I knew it would be perfect for my card. The flocking is perfect to make my spider furry. They all turned out so cute! These are the type of spiders that do not give me the hibbie gibbies!

Hope this inspired you to make a card yourself. If you have any questions about the products used, just ask.

Saturdays are my favorite

Happy Saturday to you. I love the weekends. Spending time with my boys is something I look forward to every week. Especially now that football takes up most of the day. We are a football loving family. I'm not really happy that my oldest is now a Crimson Tide fan but it does give it some excitement. Maybe my youngest will decide he wants to be a Gator fan with his Mama. We shall see.

Last night had a bit of drama to it. Caleb (my oldest) went to a Friday fun night with his friends. It's held at a gymnasium and they have inflatable slides along with all the gym equipment. Chris, Noah, and I went to Panera for dinner and then we were headed to Michaels. Yes, I have a husband that will willingly go to that store with me. I am a lucky girl. Unfortunately, as soon as we pulled in the parking lot my phone rang telling me that Caleb had been hurt. He had fallen off the slide and landed on his arms. I was bummed that I was so close to Michaels but my first priority was making sure he was okay.

After picking him up and calling our on-call nurse line through our insurance we made sure that he was pampered. I'm thinking he forgot about his pain once we administered Motrin, ice pack and some TLC. Dad even bought him some chocolate glazed doughnuts to help him push through the pain. His brother was also by his side to make him feel better.

I couldn't get Noah to actually look at the camera and smile. He would do it for a split second and then look away. He ended up thinking it was a game which was funny. The picture really was about Caleb.

After I got him settled and Noah in bed, I decided to take a few hours to do some crafting. I found the mother load of challenge blogs and wanted to try and complete as many as possible. It has been so much fun!!

The challenge that I participated in this time was with Pals Paper Arts and the sketch looked like this:

There were not specific colors that I had to be used but since I am in the Fall mood I continue to lean toward my Sweater Weather DSP. I also continue to find myself using Gorgeous Grunge as my go to stamp set. Originally when I first saw that set I couldn't see myself ever using it. I was proved wrong!

This is the card I made:

All products used are from Stampin Up with the exception of the sentiment and leaf stamps. Those are from Ali Edwards/Technique Tuesday Celebrate Fall set.

Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge #312

Another day, another challenge. It is so much easier to follow a sketch when you are designing a card. There are times that I am feeling crafty and I can design something on my own but more times than none a sketch is where I turn to.

The sketch today is from the Mojo Monday blog.

Again, it's a simple one but fun to play along with this week. Here is what I came up with:

Everything used is from Stampin' Up! I love the newspaper look. Black and white with a pop of color has always been a favorite look to me. I haven't used Strawberry Slush in a long time and I thought it looked great!

Hope this inspired you make someone a card. Everyone loves getting a card in the mail. Especially a hand made one. If you have any questions about the products used, just ask. You can also visit my online store at My Stampin World.

Mom of a Pre-Teen

I should have just stayed in bed yesterday. It didn't start out well and it didn't end well. Why you ask? I am the mom of an almost 13 year old TEENAGER!! Hormones, smart mouth and bad attitude is part of my every day life now. It is the new norm here in my world. I don't like it. It makes me want to crawl in a hole until it's all over. But then again, I would probably complain then that time went by so fast and I missed it all. Parenting is just never easy but being a parent of a pre-teen boy is just overwhelming.

Don't get me wrong. I love my boy. What I don't love is sitting up until 10:30 at night to finish a Science project that was due on Monday! Yes, my friends, that is what I had the joy of helping with last night. I don't want to hear the words nucleus, chromosomes or cell membrane again. My head was hurting by the time I finished. I thought I finished words like that 17 years ago never to be looked upon again but I was wrong! It was all so much for one night. Hopefully it's taught him a lesson to get things done when he's suppose to. Probably not. But a mom can wish, can't she?

I was able to make a cute birthday card for a friend. I just wanted something simple but with a good bit of color. Birthdays are about fun. I think color helps make fun. I always forget about glossy accents. It's one of those embellishments that add a little extra POP but isn't too overwhelming. I had every intention of using a bit more than I did but by the time I finished the card I didn't have much place to use it.

Here is my card for today.

I decided to make some of the polka dots look wet with the glossy accents. It's not what I wanted but it will work. I love how it turned out and the colors are perfect together. I hadn't used this paper in a while and wanted to get rid of it. Thankfully I have a little more left and can make another card with it soon.

Hope this inspired you to take out some older paper and make someone a card. Everyone loves getting a card in the mail. Especially a hand made one. If you have any questions about the products used, just ask. You can also visit my online store at My Stampin World.

Paper Players Sketch Challenge #164

Another challenge today. I guess you could say that I've become a little obsessed. I love finding new ideas, blogs and meeting new people. I guess virtually matters too. I still can't believe all of the talented women & men that are out there these days!

The sketch today is from The Paper Players and its another easy one but I really like how my card turned out this time. I decided to do a Christmas card and take a break on the Fall/Halloween craziness.

This is the sketch we were to use for this challenge:

I used the Stampin Up Designer Series Paper Season of Style paper pad. It is beautiful paper that matches so well!

Retro Sketches Challenge #82

I am enjoying finding challenges and creating cards! I forgot how fun it was to find different sketches or rules and challenging myself. Today I submitted a challenge for Retro Sketches. I am in the Fall/Halloween mood. It took me a while to figure out what I wanted to make even though the sketch was quite simple. It could be that I completely over analyze every single thing I make but I like for the things I make to be as close to perfect as can be.

The sketch for this challenge is:

This is the card that I came up with:

I am doing my best to use up all of my old 6X6 paper pads before I buy any new ones. I looked at my collection a few weeks ago and realized that I was becoming a collector instead of a user. The one used for the above card is Harvest Lane by Simple Stories. The jar is one of my favorite die cuts from our catalog. I snagged it the minute we were able to buy it and use it a lot during this time of year. You can't really tell from the pictures but there is a clear overlay covering the jar to hold in the small pieces. It's really cute but I couldn't get it to show up in the picture.

Mr & Mrs

It's Sunday. It's the last day of our scrapbook retreat. I can't believe it's already time to go. Time really does fly when you're having fun. I wanted to share a quick card that I made for an anniversary. I made it for my best friend and her husband. They celebrated their 11th anniversary yesterday. I'm so glad I was there to experience their nuptials in person and watch them grow into the amazing couple that they are today. They have allowed God to be the center of their family and you can see Him shine through them.

This is the card I made for them. I had to wait for her to get it before I posted it and that was like torture because I love sharing my work. I am thankful that she received it on their special day!

I love these colors together. The chevron ribbon is one of my favorites and I love finding reasons to use it! I know the cheery colors made her smile and that's all that matters. I love you both, Brooke and Mike.

Dynamic Duos Challenge

Happy Saturday evening! It has been an amazing weekend so far! Six girlfriends and I have been cropping til we drop since yesterday afternoon. The cabin we are staying in is absolutely amazing!! It's in the middle of the country around the mountains. Breathtakingly beautiful. I could stay here all week long and love every minute of it but reality will not allow that to happen.

I've gotten a good bit done. I did want to work on my Project Life album but my photo printer decided to run low on ink keeping me from printing out the pictures I need. I was frustrated but turned that frown upside down and started making some cards. My friend Claire from Claire Creates Cards enters in a lot of challenges. I use to do them a lot but haven't made the time to do it lately. I figured this was no better time than now since I had all the time to do it.

She told me about the Dynamic Duos Challenge and that it is always fun! I checked out their most recent challenge and decided to join in on the fun.

I love the colors Crumb Cake and Black so putting them together on a card was going to be fun! Here is the card I came up with.

Lazy Crafty Saturday

Happy Saturday to ALL! I don't think there is anything better than a lazy Saturday where sitting in your craft room is about all you do all day! It makes this girl happy, happy, happy. This girl also watches Duck Dynasty quite frequently. I can neither agree or deny as to whether there are 20 something episodes on my DVR right now of that show. There is just something about it that makes watching TV good again.

My Saturday started off with a virtual banner class with my Mama and G-ma. G-ma wanted to make a Fall themed banner that could hang up for the next few months. She's never been one to get in to Halloween so my Mama helped her make a different one from the kit that we offer. Mama made the banner kit that we offer in our holiday catalog.

It is just the cutest thing to me. Banners just add an extra cute factor to your mantle during the holiday seasons! I have always looked for a mantle in every house we've ever looked at. Crazy enough I look for the perfect mantle and where our Christmas tree would possibly go before I would make a decision. I think it's important stuff!

My G-ma did such a good job on her banner and was so proud of herself. Here is her finished masterpiece. She opted for Fall leaves, acorns and the word Welcome! It turned out great and I can't wait to see it hanging in her house.

While she and my mom were working on their banners I decided to work on a small project of myself. I have 2 places in my house that I can hang banners. One is my mantle where the Spooky banner will go and another small place in my foyer. This is my masterpiece.

I love, love, love, love it. The colors are so cute together and who can deny the look of chevron and polka dots these days. The skull and cross bones are a little iffy to some people but with glitter and shimmery button he isn't too scary. I am working on finishing up my Spooky banner now so it's all ready to go on October 1st!

Season of Style This and That Planner

Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner? I read some where that it's 100 days from today! EEK! It always seems to sneak up on me! Not this year though! I am going to get organized months in advanced so I'm not running around at the last minute. Ask me in January if this actually worked. Haha

Stampin' Up is offering a planner that you can personalize to your taste. You can decorate it any way you wish and keep all your holiday organization for the next few months all in one place. I have been working on mine and have taken some pictures to share how I have decorated and personalized my own. I've also included a video from the Stampin Up office which shows everything in its entirety for your viewing pleasure :)

It took me almost an entire afternoon to come up with the design but once it was finished I was IN LOVE! I sent 3 pictures to close friends showing it off because I was so excited about it! Now that I've shown you the cover, I will show you a couple pages of the inside.

The journal is made up of 5 different categories. I used our Round Tab Punch to help me find the pages a little easier. I gives it a little more pop of color and if it's easy to find I'm more apt to use it.

These are 2 envelopes that come in the journal. I am going to use the smaller of the two to place any receipts that I need to use for returns. I used a cute sticker that comes seperatelty on four sticker sheets.

There are four calendars that can be used in any way you choose. I am using mine for September through December but I have seen some used October through January. Stampin Up suggests that you use it for November and December for the next 2 years. It's your journal and you can do it any way you like. The stickers shown here are also from the sticker sheets you can purchase.

Section two is for cards. You can put all the names of friends and families that you send and receive cards from during the holiday season. I love this section as I always have to think twice about who I've sent a card to and who I have forgotten!

The third section is for decorations. In the era of Pinterest, I don't think there is a whole lot of cutting and pasting ideas but this may be the perfect time to bring it back. I still like to look through magazines for ideas. I can cut out ideas, add them to the pages and then put supplies needed to have when I make my *much needed* trip to Michaels, Hobby Lobby or Joanns. Hee Hee.

The fourth section is for Gifts & Packaging.  There are sections for each person or family you will buy a gift for and the budget set for them. Also gift ideas for when you are out shopping.

There is a big section for Entertaining and Parties. I myself have lots of parties during this time of year and its great for guest lists and to keep track of the RSVPs.

There is another pocket in the back to hold any other things to help keep you organized! The possibilities are endless! Make it yours and enjoy it!

I added a few things more after my initial pictures at the beginning. I love it even more and can't wait to start using it.

Here is a video from Stampin Ups You Tube channel showing you a more in detail look at every thing you can use to create this wonderful planner. Enjoy!
