My Creative Time Throwback Thursday Challenge

I came across a blog a month or so ago and since then I can not get enough of it. There is not one video that I have yet to watch or a project that I am determined to try. It is my new obsession (well, besides Pinterest but that's entirely different post). Emma over at My Creative Time is one talented woman and I am blog follower for life. Her design team is also full of talented women as well. They all have inspired me to get back in to crafting more and putting my creativeness to full use.

I am entering in to her Throwback Thursday Challenge. This challenge is a Cricutless and the colors orange, black, green, purple had to be incorporated. I decided to just go for it and make a card. I had a lot of fun doing it and I am excited about entering it in to this challenge.

Products Used:
  Cardstock- Bazzill
  Designer Paper- Bo Bunny
  Stamps- Recollections, Stampin' Up
  Ribbon- Michaels
  Twine- Archivers
  Punches- Stampin' Up

I look forward to entering more challenges and keeping my creative mind working. Thanks for looking!

First Day of School Card

My best friend's oldest started 1st grade this past Thursday. I wanted to send him something to let him know I was thinking about him on his big day. I found this on A Child's Year cartridge and thought it would be perfect for him. Hearing his sweet voice a few days later calling me to say thank you is why I love making and sending cards to people I love. Good luck, Brett Brett!

Open House

I'm heading to Open House with Caleb in a few to hear and learn all about what's going to happen in 5th grade this upcoming year. I still have a hard time realizing that this is his last year of elementary school. WOW! I wanted to post a few pictures of a gift that I made today for his new teacher. I spoke to her last week and she seems so sweet. I also snagged the role of HOME ROOM MOM while on the phone with her. There is just something about that title that I love and scares Caleb at the same time.

I wish I could take all the credit for this idea but I can't. I got the pencil bouquet idea from The Rachel Berry Blog but didn't have any vinyl to create the wording. I dug thru my mounds and mounds of paper to find something related to school and loved the numbers. My Cricut did the rest of the work to make it turn out so cute. Caleb loves it and said that his new teacher is going to love it. If he likes it then I must have done something right.

Can you say neglect? I can with a frown on my face. I have neglected this blog, my creative side and especially my Cricut. It's all sad, I know. So what am I gonna do about it? Turn my frown upside down and do something about it.

I've got to find better ways to balance my day so I can play in my scrapbook room. I feel like I'm not being productive at all with my days outside of caring for my home. I so want to have that blog that people wait to read and get ideas from. I have the ideas stuck in the back of my head somewhere way back there but I just can't seem to find them. I need help, inspiration, a pat on the back or possibly a kick in the butt.

Thank You card

I'm pretty much obsessed with Little Yellow Bicycle paper, embellishments, stickers, ribbon, etc. Their line of papers are awesome to say the least. I bought this paper a few weeks back, found it today in my massive paper load and decided to make a quick Thank You card for a friend. Enjoy!

Firework Photos

I decided to read my 'how to' book regarding my Nikon D60 camera this past weekend. I've had the camera for a couple of years and is embarrassed to type that I still use it like a point and click camera. Sad, I know! I knew that fireworks would be in my future and I've never been able to figure out the correct settings to take great pictures of them. It's either really dark, picture is blurry or I completely miss the good parts all together. It's amazing how many different settings there are in this camera! Talk about overwhelming - I needed a nap after the first couple of chapters.

This was my first attempt and even though it looks better than the past I knew that I could do better so after a few more attempts I came up with these. I had to give my self a pat on the back.

I've still got a lot more to do to learn all the exact settings for the perfect picture but I've got to use this camera the way it was designed. Next, will be to learn how to edit the pictures in a cool photo editing software. Thinking about that one makes me tired as well but it's going to be fun! I just know it.

Hoo are you?

Here are this week's questions!

1. How did you spend the 4th of July?
My boys and I spent it at home. We spent the weekend in a cabin in the Blue Ridge Mountains with some friends.

2. What was a couple of your favorite things you ate for the 4th of July?
We grilled out hamburgers and they were so yummy. My husband is pretty good with a grill so they are always yummy. I made cupcakes and they were a hit!

3. Did you watch fireworks?
Let's just say I tried to watch the fireworks but being that it was Noah's first 4th of July he did NOT like the noise at all so we went in the house to get ready for bed time.

4. What is your favorite firework?
I love all fireworks! There's just something magical about them.

5. How hot was it where you were for the 4th?
Thankfully it was in the low 90's!

Copycat Cupcakes

I love "following" other blogs so I can read, look and {try} to recreate the fun things I find. I wanted something fun and different to make for the 4th of July holiday. I came across the cutest cupcakes HERE and didn't think it would be too hard to make. I really do love to bake because there is so much you can do and have fun with it.

This is how they started out. I didn't divide the red and blue cake mix as evenly as I should have but hey it was my first time so I wasn't too hard on myself.

This is how they turned out!!

I was so excited. Kinda like a kid in a candy store when I pulled them out of the oven and saw all of the different colors. I couldn't wait for them to cool off so I could put icing on them and sprinkle the red, white and blue decorations on them.

I made some with chocolate frosting as my eldest is not a fan of vanilla icing.
The cake was made with egg whites and the icing was sugar free. I didn't feel AS bad when I shoved one in my mouth.

Hope everyone had a happy holiday with family and friends! I know I did!

Happy Fourth

I've seen so many cute ideas and projects for the upcoming holiday that I decided to make one of my own. I am especially loving the ideas of banners for decorations and it's a good thing since they are so popular right now. Red, white & blue look so good together so it was an easy project to do. I found old stickers from Rusty Pickle that I really love and added card stock, die cuts and ribbon to pull it all together. Enjoy your holiday with family and friends and be safe!

June Big Shot Class

I've been involved in a Big Shot class for right around 6 months. The instructor is a good friend of mine who is extremely talented in so many ways that it should be sinful. She is a demonstrator with Stampin' Up! and is so passionate about all that she does. I love all of the projects we make and getting to see how all the products are used in different ways.

The very cute strawberry on the tag in this project is actually a heart {in red} and a flower {in green} cut in half to make it. Something I would never think about but love the idea!

This box is made out of a few die cuts and very carefully positioned to stand up nicely. As an example, she placed a jar of strawberry jam in it as an idea for a gift. Very well noted :)

This card has 3 of the most beautiful colors put together. Happy 4th of July!

Shh... Baby Sleeping

I've been really into projects lately instead of finishing Caleb's scrapbook and starting on Noah's. I'm so far behind and I don't think I'll ever catch up which is very frustrating but I guess it means I will always have something to do. I found this line of paper from Little Yellow Bicycle the other day and decided to make something cute for Noah's door to let his older brother know when he was sleeping. The colors and the paper are so cute.

It has been hanging here for a few days and it has actually helped Caleb lower his voice and not walk so heavy when walking by his door. So I can say that it was well worth my time in making it :)

A Tweet Birthday Card

I decided to make a birthday card for a friend of mine that I miss dearly and unfortunately never get to see. She lives in Texas and is a busy woman. I just wanted to wish her a Happy Birthday and let her know I was thinking of her.

New Creativity Area

I decided about a month ago to move my craft room from the very back of the house to the large sitting area in our bedroom. I was afraid I would get a little bit of resistance from the hubby but he was so great about it. We started early one Saturday morning and I finished it all within about 4 days! I love the space and I can't wait to get in here and be crafty! Here are some pictures of the new space.

I love all the windows. I love being in an open space instead of a small room. It gave us our guest bedroom back for when family and friends visit and its got enough space for my little one who will be very mobile very quickly! Everything now has a place and its time to use it all and have lots of fun!

First Card with Cricut Expression

So, after many tutorials and reading up on my newest electronic. I finally finished a card that I am in love with and actually pretty proud of myself. I found a similar idea at ScrappinBlogs and just ran with it. I was a little afraid of all the buttons and where I press shift and don't. I just pulled out the paper that I wanted and my mind went from there. I told my husband that this was so much fun and it was probably the best thing he's every bought me... well, except for my engagement ring, ha! Here is what I came up with :)

Happy Father's Day

Fun Father's Day for Caleb and Noah's Daddy. We started off the morning bringing coffee in bed, reading funny cards and giving presents. I've always wanted to decorate one of the 7Gypsies picture trays and I figured it would be a great gift for today. I snapped a few pictures with my cell phone last night before crawling in to bed. Daddy loved his present! It may have helped having these two cute boys as the center of attention.

Just a few projects

Mothers Day card that I made for my wonderful Mama. She won't let me call her Mother but it sounds weird to say Mamas Day

These are some of my favorite projects to make. I made one in a class a few years back and decided to take on the task myself and I had so much fun!

My first take at altering a photo frame and I had so much fun with it. It could be that I enjoyed looking at that sweet face the whole time.

The first card I made using my Cricut Expression and it was so much fun. I can't believe I waited so long to get one of these machines!
